fter code contributions from hundreds of community members, nine independent audits, the largest security competition in history, and a $15.5 million bug bounty – Uniswap v4 is now live.
Uniswap v4 follows v2 and v3, which have processed over $2.75 trillion in trading volume, with zero hacks. This latest version is the most customizable and lowest cost version of the Uniswap Protocol. It is live on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, OP Mainnet, Base, BNB Chain, Blast, World Chain, Avalanche, and Zora Network today.
Users can provide liquidity on Uniswap v4 through the Uniswap web app and swapping is rolling out over the coming days on web and wallet as liquidity migrates to v4.
The most customizable DeFi developer platform
Uniswap v4 transforms the protocol into a developer platform with unlimited customizability. It does this through hooks – modular plugins that allow developers to build custom logic for pools, swaps, fees, and LP positions.
Over 150 hooks have already been developed, introducing everything from dynamic fees to automated liquidity management. By allowing developers to build and experiment directly on top of the protocol, hooks enable faster development cycles and stickier integrations. More hooks drive deeper liquidity and more swapping, which strengthen the network effects around the Uniswap Protocol. The ability for anyone to create hooks has already unlocked tons of creativity – with new features and experiments happening on top of the AMM. We can't wait to see how hook developers continue pushing the edges of DeFi with v4 now live.
The lowest cost version of the Uniswap Protocol
Beyond customizability, Uniswap v4 provides gas savings for both swappers and LPs. Creating new pools with v4 is up to 99.99% cheaper than in previous versions, and swappers can expect gas savings on multi-hop swaps. Native ETH support adds significant additional savings for ETH pairs. Check out the whitepaper to dive deeper into v4’s architecture.
Built in public, with rigorous audits
Uniswap v2 and v3 have facilitated over 465 million swaps without a single hack or exploit. Uniswap v4 is built with the same commitment to transparency and security, and we’ve aimed to make it one of the most audited codebases ever deployed onchain.
Since announcing v4, Uniswap Labs has made all contract code source-available and welcomed hundreds of PRs from the community. The v4 codebase has undergone extensive reviews, including:
- Nine audits (reports on core and periphery contracts)
- A $2.35M security competition with over 500 participants
- The largest bug bounty in history, offering up to $15.5M for any critical v4 bugs
No critical bugs were found in the security competition or bug bounty. The bug bounty remains active to encourage ongoing security research, code reviews, and reporting of any issues after deployment.
How to access v4 through the Uniswap web app and wallet
Uniswap v4 is live across 10 chains, and available on all Uniswap Labs products:
- Swappers: Support for swapping on v4 is rolling out on Uniswap products in the coming days. You won’t need to do anything differently to use v4 – swaps will automatically route through UniswapX, v2, v3, and v4 liquidity pools. Learn more about routing options.
- Liquidity Providers: You can migrate existing positions to v4 or create new ones that use hooks. Just select “v4” on the LP page and enter the hook’s address.
- Hook Developers: Explore the developer guide to build your first hook, or check out the guide on integrating hooks with the Uniswap web app and wallet.
