Uniswap v2 Now Live Across More Major Chains
February 20, 2024

You all love v2 so much, we’re bringing it to you everywhere. Uniswap v2 is live on Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Base, Binance Smart Chain, and Avalanche. Seamlessly swap and provide liquidity on v2 on all supported chains directly through the Uniswap interface. With both v2 and v3 available across all supported networks, users have the flexibility to choose between simplicity with v2 and more advanced features with v3.

Simpler experience for LPs

While v3 offers advanced capabilities for more active liquidity providers (LPs), v2 offers a more simple LP experience. Unlike v3, pools on v2 cover the entire price range of the pool by default — reducing the need for active management and monitoring as an LP.

Savings on swaps

Users already save on gas fees when swapping with v3 on non-Ethereum chains. v2 allows for even more gas savings — making swaps incredibly cost effective, averaging under a dollar on L2s like Optimism and Arbitrum, compared to $35 average cost to swap on Ethereum. Plus, users benefit from almost no MEV on L2s, due to sequencers — particularly helpful for swapping longtail assets, which are more prone to losses due to MEV.

For users looking to swap using v2, you can visit app.uniswap.org, select your network and the tokens you want to swap. The Uniswap interface will route your swap through the version of the protocol with the best price (which might be v2, but could also route through v3 or UniswapX).

Swapping on v2

Cheaper to deploy new pools

v2 doesn’t just save users gas on swapping – it is also very gas efficient for users deploying new pools. While v3 offers options for parameterizing pool deployments to optimize capital efficiency, v2 offers full range by default which simplifies the process for creating new pools.

To create new pools on v2, navigate to the Pools tab of the Uniswap app, where you’re able to Create Pools, Import Pools, or Add Liquidity.

Add Liquidity on v2

Security on every swap

In just the last year, over $55 million has been lost in v2 fork exploits, bugs, and rugs across Binance Smart Chain, Base, and Arbitrum (Uranium, RocketSwap, LeetSwap, Swaprum). Swapping with official Uniswap v2 contracts directly from the Uniswap Interface provides swappers with a more secure trading environment.

Live on the Uniswap interface

v2 is now live on Arbitrum, Polygon, Optimism, Base, Binance Smart Chain, and Avalanche. Users can provide liquidity, create pools, and swap on v2 directly from the Uniswap interface.
